The animals are killing us

Mad Cow. Mercury from fish. Bird flu. Now the Swine flu...basically the animals are continuing to plot their deaths on humans. This being said the celebs are not to be outdone. We all know they have their favorite charity cases and in Katy Perry's case, her favorite cause is protecting us lesser people against the dangers of "bacon fever". She was seen sporting a ring of a jewel encrusted pig in recent days. The singer wrote on her blog that "since swine flu is super trendy I wanted to make sure I was in style with my swine flu ring!" I'm glad to see someone has a sense of humor in all this. It gets depressing reading about the death tolls from our porker friends. I just want to know what's next...surgical masks at the Oscars? Sad news and thing that it's sad that we care about

Season 7 American Idol winner David Cook lost his brother to brain cancer Saturday May 1st. Adam came to support David during his Idol conquest despite his physical ailments. And now on to something funnier....Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag have tied the knot...for real this time. The Hills "hotties" married a few months ago in Mexico on a whim but it was not legally binding here in the USA. Smart move America...we won't let gay people who have fully functioning brains get married but we will let some money hungry, attention loving, not really talented but famous people wed. But I digress. The two married in Pasedena, CA in front of roughly 200 guests including "arch rival" Lauren Conrad also of The Hills fame. I wish we could say this was a happily ever after for the twosome but the only way it will be is if they go ride off into the sunset and leave the rest of us alone. All Hands On Deck

Shia Labeouf injured his hand in a car wreck back in July of '08 and now, a year later, he still doesn't have complete control of it. He says that it's hard to button his own shirt or pull a zipper without being in extreme pain. Shia also goes on to say that it's his own fault for getting in the wreck in the first place. On the one hand...alcohol was not blamed on this accident....but on the other hand...he has nothing to blame his terrible driving on (Unlike Lindsay Lohan). One good thing did come out of all this. He still gets to kiss Megan Fox in Transformers 2. Now along with the free clothes, the swag, and the awesome parties, celebs get something just as much fun as the paparazzi...STALKERS! Earlier this year Paula Abdul's stalker overdosed on drugs outside of Abdul's home and Shawn Johnson, pint size Olympic gymnast and Dancing With The Stars competitor, recently caught her stalker. Now Tyra Banks's stalker has been convicted. As if harassment from the paparazzi doesn't make life hard enough for the celebs, now they have to worry about their safety just at home. It's hard to feel sorry for them because of all the awesomeness that comes with being a celeb, but ironically I kind of do. Prince's Brave Battle

Eccentric artist Prince (formerly known as a symbol) struggled with childhood epilepsy. He says an angel helped him overcome it by telling him he wasn't going to be sick anymore. Although divine intervention seems impossible (or just improbable if you believe in that) I guess it must have worked because he's one of the most over the top, flashy celebrities out there. Way to go Prince for overcoming your obstacles and inspiring hope to others. And the Oscar Will Go To...

The Soloist starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx will most certainly be recieving at least one (perhaps several) Oscar nominations come award season. I can pretty much guarantee this for two reasons: 1) Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. are both acadamy favorites and previous winners (both have been nominated for 2 oscars each with Foxx winning one in 2005 for Ray). 2) The acadamy loves movies about handicapped people, mental or physical (Ray, The Aviator, Million Dollar Baby, A Beautiful Mind, I Am Sam...). Anyways I digress. The Soloist is about Nathaniel Ayers (Foxx), a homeless man with a mental disorder who is also a Juliard accepted cello player. He meets Steve Lopez (Downey Jr.), a journalist who befriends him. Slumdog Millionaire was the big winners at the oscars this year...despite the fact I had never heard of it until Oscar season. Not the point. One of it's littlest stars, Rubina Ali, was alledegedly almost sold into slavery by her father. The not so daddy dearest hoped to get $300,000 off his talented tot. Her father was taken into custody, questioned, and then released. As if this wasn't enough for the 9 year old to endure, her mom and stepmom had an all out fight over the issue. Thankfully someone has the girl's best intrest in mind. There is a social worker watching out for Rubina and a trust has been set up for her so she will be financially secure in the future. This is tragic. Outside vs. Inside

Pretty on the outside...not so pretty within: First runner up in the Miss USA beauty pageant, aka Carrie Prejean, said during her interview question that she believes marriage should be between a man and a woman. I was a little upset about it, not only because I disagree, but because its not her place to make things awkward and uncomfortable for...everybody. Miss USA should be a diplomatic, friendly, unbiased, super hot version of the girl next door. She may have the latter part covered but diplomatic and unbiased...not so much. In her defense she did say "no offense". Who knows? If she won the crown she might have offended small terminally ill kids by saying they weren't as pretty as her. Carrie Prejean Susan Boyle

Plain on the outside...stunning on the inside: Britian's Got Talent aka England's version of American Idol has a new breakout superstar...Susan Boyle. At first glance she doesn't look at all impressive. Don't feel bad about judging her at a fist glance, that girl rolling her eyes in the beginning thinks so too. But when she opens her mouth....the voice of an angel. The singing gets redundant after a while but I rewound it 9 times just to watch Simon's face when he realizes he was wrong. Priceless.

Double dose of fun

1. Ryan Seacrest has a girlfriend. The hardest working man in pop culture (he hosts E! News as well as American Idol AND he produces Keeping up with the Kardashians among others) has been stepping out with bartender Jasmine Waltz. Good for him! He deserves to be happy. This being said Joel McHale...you can ease up on the gay jokes...but keep going with the short jokes...they're funny.

Bo 'Bama In The (White) House

What kind of dog will the Obama's get? Well Americans can rest easy because now one of the greatest questions of our generations has been answered. Bo, a Portugese water dog, has joined the first family as a resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Although this undoubtedly means happiness for Malia and Sasha Obama, animal rights activists are upset that the pampered pooch was a gift from Ted Kennedy and did not come from a shelter.

I can understand why these activists are so upset...I mean they could have used this opportunity to save an animal's life, but the reason they had to get this particular breed was so Malia's allergies would not be bothered. The important thing to remember here is the kids are happy and the dog is happy. Isn't that what matters in the long run?

Miley Cyrus, Disney's latest wonder child, apparently goes through her boyfriends' cell phones. She told Tyra Banks yesterday it's in order to see if they're nice to their moms because if they're mean to their moms they'll be mean to her. I wonder if she realizes that it's awkward for the world to hear about her romances; especially that of her most recent one with 20 year old Justin Gaston. Um...HELLO?!?!? She's 16!!! I'm pretty sure that's illegal. Despite the questionable legality of the romance she's already talking about marriage to him! I understand that you're happy and you think he's the one but at least wait until your wisdom teeth come in.

More Celebs Weigh In On Being Fat

Again...there's no escaping it....Hollywood has an insane obsession with weight. Besides the article I previously mentioned about even Miss Piggy being scrutinized, now Kim Kardashian is being insulted when pictures of her with cellulite emerged.

Instead of being upset, however, Kim K was proud of her jiggly bits and apparently former Girl Next Door Holly Madison is too. I'm hoping these girls standing up for themselves will show "normal" girls that you dont have to be a size two to be beautiful. Good Job!

Stephen Colbert might actually get his name used as the label for the new room on the space station. The king of shameless self promotion urged viewers to vote for his name on nasa's website and amazingly...it had the most number of votes! Now all that's left to do is have NASA approve it....which may be hard.

I'm not sure how much those scientist rich guys will be willing to have a comedy news reporter be the associated with their research. Either way I think it's kind of cool. Not only because i'm a fan of Stephen Colbert, but because it'd be kind of a time capsule to show future generations what was important to us in 2009. It could always be worse though...we could name it Miley...*shudder*

Sad Season Finale

Last night Jon and Kate + 8 wrapped their 4th season and (perhaps) the last. Jon misses the former anymonity (sp?) he had before their adorable brood became celebrities. Kate, however, expressed that she loves the show and the opertunities it has opened up for them.


For those of you who aren't aware, Jon and Kate Gosselin are parents of eight children, a set of twins and a set of sextuplets, that have a television show on TLC. The twins (Mady and Cara) are eight years old and the sextuplets (Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel) are four and a half.

Maybe I'm a selfish viewer but I love this show and I would be minorly devastated if it ended. It's fun to watch the kids grow up and see them expierence from their eyes. If they do end it though, I can hold out hope that they will have a "where are they now" special ten years from now.

Britney's new video!

Britney Spears has debuted her new video for the song "if u seek amy" off her circus album. This song has been deemed controversial because if you say the title of the song fast it sounds like you're spelling the F word. I have two problems with this...first she never actually says the F word...the title of the song is IF YOU SEEK AMY nothing worse than that. Second there's no reason to censor this song because again...nothing bad is said.

Anyways on to the video. The beginning is pure old school Britney and I love it! But the part where she turns into Suzie Homemaker near the end confuses me. What do 1950s clothes and apple pie have to do with the sexy party in the beginning? If you understand it explain it to me please. Either way...Britney's back, she looks amazing, sounds amazing, and overall seems healthy! YAY!

Michael Phelps is a 23 year old man. Of course he has expiremented with drugs! As of right now, I don't see a huge problem with it. He's not in training for the next olympics yet. Let him apologize, get back to training, and get on with his life.
